ben .gal

ben/gal is a design and build studio specializing in architecture and sculpture and bringing complex and difficult-to-execute ideas to life in physical form.  In addition to architectural projects, we also develop installations, product, exhibitions, interiors, contract, and small projects exploring the crossings of art and architecture.

About the principal
Born in Israel and raised there and in the United States, Tomer Ben-Gal began designing as a young child. He received a BA from Pratt Institute, where he studied architecture and industrial design, in 2002. Prior to founding BEN.GAL in 2017, Tomer founded FLATCUT_ in the mid-2000s, filling a void in New York City for a fabrication firm that could effectively partner with architects, designers, and artists. In addition to fabricating highly customized pieces, FLATCUT_ frequently produced at scale, making use of its large machine shop to execute projects with 20,000 custom components and 50,000 square foot interiors and facades. Tomer was one of the 100 designers chosen to exhibit in the Museum of Arts and Design’s “NYC Makers: The MAD Biennial” in 2014.
